What is a domain?
The domain is simply what your website will be be called. If you website is for your business, a great place to start is with the name of your business.

- The shorter it can be, the better. Try to keep within 20-25 characters. Think about mobile browsers and how few characters they can display. You want your whole name of your website visible.
- Avoid creative spellings. If it is the name of your business, then you might not have a choice. However, if you spell something uniquely, it will be hard for potential visitors to find and remember.
- Avoid being generic. You might think that a domain name like buycomputerssonline.com would bring you a ton of traffic, but don’t do it. The web is full of scams and the name of your website doesn’t inspire confidence in its legitimacy.
- Don’t pigeonhole yourself. Make sure your website and brand have room to grow. Just because you sell one type of widget right now, doesn’t mean that you will be only selling one type forever.
